As a new-found enthusiast of genealogy, it has really struck me how important old photographs are.

It's all very well having certificates, names, dates and census returns, but for me it's the old photographs that really bring our family history to life.

Looking at faces for family likenesses and wondering how they lived their lives all those years ago is a fascinating experience. Sometimes if you look close enough you can almost find yourself travelling back in time!

We are lucky as a family, to have lots of pictures of our past. My Grandmother loved photos. Many of the faces and places are already known to us and with the help of the few relatives, we have been able to identify some those we didn't. However...

Sadly, there are still lots of photographs that have no names written on the back, that have no photographers stamp and we have no idea who they might be. They're obviously people known to our ancestors - relatives or friends perhaps - but who are they?

There must be many other frustrated family historians out there who have the same dilemma. So I have started up this web site in the hope of solving my mysteries ... and yours!

With your help, I hope that this site will become a useful Resource for Genealogists. By submitting pictures for our Gallery you could help it become a true insight into the way our ancestors lived. Any photographic contributions to this feature will be warmly welcomed. Please see Contact Us page for details.
